Singing in the Rain ... naked ... w/ cheesecake

It's been a while since I've posted last ... honestly because I dont have a whole lot going on right now. The job search continues with occassional interviews, work is work, home is home, and the laundry is always piling up. It's been raining here constantly, and I do mean constantly since Saturday night. We've got 5.4 inches so far since then (this being Monday) and it's still raining non stop. Sometimes sprinkling, sometimes a nice steady rain, other times a down pour you could hardly see through. Crops are suffering, the garden is suffering, the field we just planted is really suffering, but blah blah blah. We were stuck inside all day Sunday, as were the dogs ... Jasmine didnt like that much. Brad turned on the tv at some point Sunday afternoon and was watching a home improvement show. They were featuring slate and tile. The carpenter man redid someone's tile shower and put in new fixtures, including a shower head. It was the big kind that supposed to be like rain. I want one. Apparently Brad thought it was a good idea because we went to Lowe's later and looked into a new microwave, kitchen space heater, and the shower head. We only bought the shower head. Brad was so excited he installed it the same night... who knew switching shower heads was that easy!?!? I would have done it 3 years ago when I first moved in if I had known ya just unscrew the thing! Anyway, Brad took his shower right away and came back not so thrilled. It felt the same to him ... like water. I took my shower a bit later after my cheesecake was safely in the fridge (more on this later) and I looooved it! It rinses my hair so much better and faster and feels more like a shower (or rain, I guess) than spit. I could have stayed in there forever. Now if only the bathtub would seal so I could have an occassional bubble bath. =) It was definetly worth the little splurge to upgrade.

Cheeeesecake! I looooove cheesecake! I've had this craving for a good real cheesecake. Not the kind that comes in the Jello no-bake boxes, not the kind you buy in a box in the freezer section of the grocery store. I'm talking real cheesecake, like the Chicago cheesecake or New York cheesecake. Like fluffy, creamy, YUM! Since it was raining all day Sunday, and the weather people actually warned me it would rain, I picked up the necessary 5 boxes of full fat cream cheese and carton of heavy whipping cream at my weekly Saturday morning grocery run. It was a good practice in patience... damn cheesecakes have to cool and be refrigerated for 12 hours! It's definetely not an instant gratification dessert. It all payed off this morning though. I didnt have to go into work and was able to make homemade whipped cream, which is worth the extra effort and so much better than cool whip. I topped it off with chopped semi sweet chocolate, which it really didnt need, but hey what's a few more calories at this point? I thought I'd share my master creation ... too bad you cant eat it with me!
The piece I cut turned out to be monsterously huge (in cheesecake slices)! It was almost like I had a little angel on one shoulder and a little devil on the other "EAT it!" "Put it in the frig." "NO, eat it!" "Save it for later." I did put it in the frig and hopefully will have enough willpower to leave it there until Brad comes home. I love cheesecake ... I love desserts. It's just neat to see all the individual ingredients turn into something so yummy. ... Ok, so I love eating it more than making it. =)
So I'd like to be sane and say the highlight of my weekend was the new shower head ... but it's really not. The highlight of my weekend was drooling over my cheesecake and dreaming about it until I could eat it. This is a once a year deal here. Cheesecakes are rare in my little world.
It's a perfect day to curl up with a cup of coffee and a piece of cheesecake. I'm saving a piece for you! Hurry!
Have a lovely day!

oh my gosh!! You are so very talented in the kitchen! YOU ARE AMAZING! That looks like something in a bakery. It looks amazing. I think my piece would melt into a yucky pile of mush before it got here. SO, that means you have to eat a piece for me! BTW- the title cracked me up.

Wow, I have no idea where to start.....The awesome showerhead, or the cheesecake?!

Okay, cheesecake wins! :) I'm super impressed - I have never been brave enough to attempt making a cheesecake, I'm definitely a "buy it frozen" kinda gal. But I'm definitely inspired, maybe I'll bake some cheesecake as a 2nd anniversary treat!

I LOVE the rain showerheads! We bought one about a year ago. It took me a while to get "used" to it, but now I love it!

PS - I was so surprised at how freaking easy it is to change a showerhead. Who knew?!
